Muttom is a fishing village, located 16 kilometers from the capital town Nagercoil. Muttom is located at .It is well connected by road to the Nagercoil town. It is approximately 75 km from the Trivandrum International Airport. It is reachable from Kanyakumari by road with a distance of about 34 km.Nearest villages are Esanthangu, Ammandivillai, Pillaithoppu, Azhikal, Kadiyapattanam & Manavala Kurichi. Major roads to reach Muttom via Ammandivillai , Esanthangu & Nagercoil. There is a lighthouse which is constructed by british india. The lighthouse, though near the sea, is situated 110 feet above sea level. The skeleton was build when India was part of the British Empire until 1947.

Thirparappu:
Thirparappu is famous for its waterfalls and is located in Kanyakumari District of TamilNadu in the southern part of India. Thirparappu Falls is located 42 km from Nagercoil (headquarters of Kanyakumari District), 55 km from Thiruvananthapuram (capital of Kerala) and a distance of 5 km from Kulasekaram (nearest town panchayat). This famous falls is in the Kodayar (Kothai River).The Kodayar makes its descend at Thirparappu and the water fall at this place is about 13 km. from Pechiparai dam.
Palace at Padmanabhapuram:
The Padmanabhapuram palace complex is inside an old granite fortress around four kilometers long. The palatial mansion is a wooden paradise. The palace is located at the foot of the Veli Hills, which form a part of the Western Ghats. The river Valli flows nearby.
It was once the seat of the rulers of old Travancore or Venad State from the 16th to the late 18th centuries. The palace was constructed around 1601 A.D by Ravipillai Ravivarma Kulasekhara Perumal who ruled Travancore between 1592 A.D. and 1609 A.D. The palace draws hundreds of visitors every day continuously. It is one of the best 10 palaces in the world.
Chitral Jain carvings near Martandam:
Chitral near Nagerkoil is famous for its unique rock cut temple dedicated to Mahavira. The temple consists of a low roofed temple,a pillared hall with ornamental granite pillars and a depleted Gopuram.It also contains a Bass relief on one of its side walls consisting of images of Jain thirtankaras in padmsan position.It is towards the northern side of the temple and is rich in details with a diamond shaped projection on the chest of the thirtankaras,one of the noteworthy characteristics of Jain sculptures.The inner shrine contains images of Buddha,Ambika and Krishna.Mahavira the chief Deity is in Padmasana position(usually the Jain sculptures depict only two position –sitting or free standing) with a triple umbrella .There are also images of Bhagavathi and Parsavanthi .Epigraphic evidence shows that there was a reputed Jain university at Thirucharanattumalai.With the decline of Jainism the temple was converted into Hindu shrine and regular pooja is still offered.This was the case with most of the Jain temples of Kerala.The eighth century saw the revival of Hinduism we find that many of these temples were forcefully converted as hindu temples. The temple at Koodalmanikkyam in Irinjalakuda is believed to have been among them.The belief is that it was dedicated to Bharatheswara, a Digambar Jain monk .Jainism had a profound impact on the religious architecture of Kerala
St. Francis Xavier's Cathedral, Kottar:
Christianity was introduced in 52-68 AD by St.Thomas, an apostle of Jesus Christ into the Kanyakumari district. One of the world`s oldest Christian Church structures, built by him in 57 CE, the Thiruvithamcode Arappally or Amalagiri Church or Thomaiyar Kovil, dedicated to Holy Mother Mary, at Thiruvithancode is now declared as an International St. Thomas pilgrim centre. Later on, Catholic faith was spread by the European missionary, St. Francis Xavier (also called as Valiya Pandaram), who resided at Kottar in 1544 AD while doing missionary work in the neighbouring areas. Protestant missionaries arrived later. District. has the third largest Christian population among all districts in India. Also, about one-fifth of the Christian population of Tamil Nadu live in this district.
